Gouty Arthritis Demystified - How Does Gout Pain Feel Like?

Are you experiencing some weird pain at your feet? If you do, most probably you are wondering what you have done recently that causes the mysterious pain. If you cannot recall any recent activity that can possibly cause the awful pain, then most probably the pain is a gout attack. If this is the first time you experience it and wondering how does gout pain actually feel like, here is a brief description of it that can help you to confirm if that is really a gout attack.
As a matter of fact, gout pain is beyond imagination! It is so painful until there is no suitable word available to precisely describe that kind of agony caused by the swollen joint. Gout pain is commonly known among those who have ever suffered from it as the worst pain one can experience in life.
The scary part of gout is that it attacks suddenly without any prior warning. The inflammation usually happens in the middle of the night when you are sleeping peacefully. All of a sudden, you wake up with a swollen big toe that sends waves of pain to your brain.
The Pain That Can Make A Grown Up Man Cries
Gout pain is like someone has stuffed some super hot spicy chilli pepper into the affected joint, the feeling is like there is a burning flame of fire trapped within the joint. Beside that burning sensation, you also feel like there are hundreds of sharp needles poking from the inside of the inflamed joint. This combination of excruciating pains makes your want to cry out loud and you hope that burst of tears can help to release the stressful gout pain.
The killing part of the gout pain is that it can last for days or sometimes up to a week or so. A gout attack does not take away your life, but it makes you feel like wanting to die in order to escape from the excruciating pain.
Stay Away From Moving Air
That swollen joint has become so sensitive that even a light blow of cold wind can squeeze the painful tears out from the edge of your eyes. Many gout patients say that they can feel the pulsation of the blood vessels around the inflamed part. Every pulse triggers a wave of torturing gout pain.
Beside the direct pain from the swollen joint, the patient also undergoes some emotional and mental pains due to multiple external factors. When someone is having hard time to stand up and walk, how can he go work under that condition? Even if he can make it to the workplace, his mind will not be able to focus on anything except the awful pain on his feet. When is productivity in the work place drops, he will face the risk of being fired by their bosses.
As long as the gout pain is there, you will constantly live in fears. Fear of losing your job, fear of the side effects of those gout drugs you are forced to take everyday, and fear of this awful pain will become a burden to the family. That is exactly the kind of pain a gout patient has to go through. Gout does not kill, but it will gradually rob away the happiness from your life.
